Jini Says +

These lozenges are sublingual - this means you hold them under your tongue and they dissolve and are absorbed through the lining of your mouth. This is the ideal delivery system for people who have difficulties with Vitamin B-12 absorption. Just be sure to move them around under your tongue as they dissolve, so absorption isn't limited to just one spot.

Vitamin B-12 is an essential vitamin. It helps form healthy blood cells and is a building block for DNA. Vitamin B-12 helps maintain healthy energy levels, but contrary to many marketing claims it will not provide an energy boost to a healthy person with normal levels of B-12.

However, vitamin B-12 deficiency can cause low energy levels. It is most likely to affect older adults, particularly those with health problems, or chronically ill people. Vegans and vegetarians may also suffer from vitamin B-12 deficiency due to the lack of animal products in their diet (the natural source of B-12). Other symptoms of B-12 deficiency are anemia, weakness, loss of appetite, fatigue, confusion, loss of balance and poor memory.

Since many people have difficulty absorbing vitamin B-12, we have found the BEST way to take it is sublingually. You simply dissolve a lozenge under the tongue and it is absorbed rapidly through the mucous membranes in the lining of the mouth. Be sure to move the lozenge around (under your tongue) rather than just leaving it in one spot, as this further increases absorption.

Methylcobalamin is the active, coenzyme form of vitamin B12. Cyanocobalamin, the most common form of supplemental B12, must be converted first into hydroxocobalamin, and then into adenosylcobalamin, which is finally converted into methylcobalamin. Since cyanocobalamin has to undergo this extensive conversion process, supplementation with methylcobalamin is preferable, and it is also the specific form of B12 shown to support the brain and nervous system. In humans, supplementation with high doses of methylcobalamin has been shown to provide neurological support in people with degenerative nerve conditions such as Bell’s palsy, multiple sclerosis, Lou Gehrig’s disease, and degenerative spinal conditions. Methylcobalamin may also help normalize sleep-wake cycles, providing better quality sleep for some.

AOR’s Methyl B12 – 5 mg provides 5 mg in an easy-to-take lozenge making it ideal for those who have neurological conditions or nerve problems. Vegetarians, elderly people, and those suffering from pernicious or megaloblastic anemia, atrophic gastritis, Celiac disease, Crohn’s disease, or other types of inflammatory gastrointestinal disorders are at greater risk for B12 deficiency and may benefit from high doses of methylcobalamin.

AOR Advantage

While the RDA (Recommended Dietary Allowance) for vitamin B12 in Canada is just 2.4 micrograms and the upper limit is just 1 milligram, AOR’s Methyl B12 – 5 mg provides a high, clinically effective dosage of the most bioavailable form of vitamin B12 in a convenient and pleasant-tasting lozenge form.
